Code Studio Selected to Lead FBC Project

The Cleveland City Planning Commission has selected Code Studio, an Austin-based zoning and urban design firm, to lead the new form-based code project.
They are experts in zoning and urban design, including the preparation of form-based codes in communities both large and small. They have worked in “hot” markets looking to manage their growth as well as communities seeking to revitalization through removal of zoning barriers to equitable development. Code Studio has pulled together a project team with the skills necessary to tackle the anticipated issues that will arise from both technical and non-technical discussions of Cleveland’s existing zoning and it’s strengths and weaknesses. The team includes Yard & Company, a Cincinnati-based urban growth firm that uses urban design and development strategy to help people uncover what is possible for their places through market making, storytelling, and problem solving. They value authentic neighborhood growth, the hyper-power of what can be done in small spaces, collaborative development and a human-scaled approach to the way places can change for the better. They also bring Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, an internationally-recognized firm committed to developing transportation systems that promote vibrant, sustainable, and accessible communities. Their firm is an industry leader in holistic planning for all modes of transportation, including their health impacts. They design communities that balance the needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and drivers.
